“But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”
Genesis 39:21 · KJV
Joseph did not deserve the pit, the slavery, or the prison. He was faithful and still suffered. But the text keeps returning to one phrase: the LORD was with Joseph. Not that God caused the suffering, but that God was present in it. The question in adversity is not always 'why is this happening?' Sometimes it is simply: 'Is God still here?' The answer, in Joseph's story, is always yes.
