“And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”

Joseph did not minimize what his brothers had done. He named it: 'whom ye sold into Egypt.' But he also held it inside a larger story — one where God had been at work through the very thing that was meant to destroy him. Reconciliation does not erase the past. It reframes it. It says: this happened, and God was still writing.
Read it slowly. Then read it again. Notice which word or phrase stays with you.
